About JC

As a young girl, J.C. Moran loved coming up with cryptic clues for her own version of hide-and-seek, which she played with her brothers and sisters.
Her creative ingenuity continued into adulthood when she invented and designed a commercially-successful line of educational board games through her company, Games For All Reasons, LLC. Her games earned multiple awards and recognitions, including Parents’ Choice and Dr. Toy’s Best Children’s Products. Her best-selling game, Finish Lines®, was also recognized by Mensa Mind Games Select® as a family favorite, alongside widely known titles such as Trivial Pursuit® and Scattergories®.
Before becoming a children’s book author, J.C. worked in the corporate world in investments and software. She also led a self-starter initiative to help bring interactive, distance-learning programming from museums, science centers, and National Park Service sites into classrooms and senior living communities.
After many years in Boston, J.C. now resides in North Carolina. When she’s not writing, she can often be found playing golf with her husband.

Why do you like to write for middle-grade readers?
I love the imaginative and inquisitive nature of this age group. There is an innate willingness to try new things and embark on new adventures. I like writing stories that this age will find fun and captivating. I also like to introduce them to characters they may find relatable.
Let's Learn More

What kind of kid were you at ages 8–13?
I remember always wanting to be outdoors. I loved exploring ‘the world’ even if it was limited to my own backyard.
My dream at that age was to become a Park Ranger with the National Park Service. I had always envisioned myself wearing one of their iconic brimmed, flat hats and working at Yellowstone.
Are you currently working on another book?
Yes, of course! I have another exciting adventure that I can’t wait to share, so stay tuned.
